It is not possible to get rid of the old r* raw names, since
a great many packages still look at life that way. Karl
keeps to them, and as a matter of fact so do I---in a sense.
lib.tar.gz represents a tex and texinfo environment
rather than a predominantly latex environment. It does
not necessarily mimic the latex2e distribution exactly
since that is available on CTAN anyway.
There is a dc directory on CTAN. I don't know much about
it, because I don't approach fonts that way.
